Hunt-Parker Sanctuary

The James Ramsey Hunt and Mary Welsh Parker Memorial
Sanctuary comprises the 330-acre Bedford Audubon Preserve on the border of Lewisboro and Bedford. James Ramsey Hunt donated over 200 acres in the 1970s and Mary Welsh Parker left her house, Bylane, and 100 acres in her will. The 1720s farmhouse serves as the headquarters of the Bedford Audubon Society. The renowned perennial garden has been renovated using native plantings. The view presents a serene valley with two ponds and a neighboring Early American farmhouse with fields and forest rising up a steep hill. Across Todd Road from the farmhouse, the Jack and Louisa Baur trail climbs steeply through open meadow, affording a striking view across the valley. At the top, the trail joins the Ramsey Hunt trail system.

For more information, please contact Bedford Audubon at 35 Todd Road, Katonah NY 10536, 914-232-1999 or www.bedfordaudubon.org
