John Jay High School XC & Community Trail

The John Jay High School Cross-Country and Community Trail is a 5K loop around John Jay High School and Middle School. The trail has several access points including the high school, middle school, Gideon Reynolds Road and Route 35. This trail provides some surprisingly beautiful terrain set in the middle of JJHS, and the neighborhoods of The Meadows and Michelle Estates.

Plans for a cross-country trail have been in the works for a long time. JJ’s XC team was unable to hold a home meet due to lack of a facility with varied terrain. Head coach Tom Nohilly brought together town and school officials to implement this project. Town Councilman Dan Welsh describes the trail as “a nice amenity for area residents for jogging, hiking and taking a walk to the shopping center.”

To walk, hike, or run the 5K loop, begin at the field behind the middle school. Head north behind the bus parking lot and across the road into the woods. Follow the signs.
