Took my canoe out to look for beaver, I think the beaver family from Twin Lakes has expanded through Lake Waccabuc and down the Waccabuc River. I’ve seen river otters here a few times over 35 yrs. Now beavers have permanently flooded several acres of low, flat wetlands. Coyotes were close to my barnyard up until this Spring. With 2′ – 3′ deep water they’ve been pushed way back. So have the turkeys. Geese and ducks are thriving easily. Deer are still here – way overpopulated! I wonder if the trout will leap over the beaver dam going upstream in Springtime?
